Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Throughout her lifetime, Annie King opened her heart to those who needed compassion, caring and kindness. She would visit people who were sick or elderly, was active in her church and volunteered at the Carbonear Red Cross Memorial Hospital, which became the Inter Faith Citizen's Home. She was an active member of the home's auxiliary for close to twenty years, participating in fundraising events, visiting the residents weekly, and playing the piano for them. Mrs. King also loved to bake and cook, not only for family and friends, but for others less fortunate in the community.
