Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
After retiring as a teacher, Father Hodgins continued to help new immigrants to Montréal by teaching them English and helping them to find housing and jobs and adjust to life in their new home. He also worked for decades as a volunteer chaplain at the Montréal Convalescent Hospital, celebrated Sunday Mass at a seniors residence where he was older than most of the residents, and continued to quietly provide care to anyone in need.
