John Robert (Jack) Scarfe, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
After serving as an air gunner during WWII, Jack Scarfe joined the Royal Canadian Legion and was the driving force behind the restoration of Woodlawn Cemetery's military section and Parks Canada's designation of Memorial Avenue in Woodlawn as a historic site. He has also been involved in the restoration of other memorial sites, but is perhaps best known for his recent work as Chairman of the committee that produced the Canada Remembers Air Show. He is also a fund-raiser and volunteer director for the Canadian Paraplegic Association and the provincial A.L.S. Society.
