Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Leonard Peto has become an active volunteer and spokesperson for his fellow patients at the Riverview Health Centre. The first patient appointed to the hospital's board, he participates in the recreational therapy centre, the day hospital, and the new-patient reception program. He was also instumental in the development of homebound learning classes for post-polio patients. In addition, he raised funds to maintain a recreational van for patient outings.
