Elmer Frank Harris, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
In 1986, Elmer Frank Harris was a founding member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Chapter of the Children's Wish Foundation and currently serves as treasurer. He helped establish and served as president of the VOCM Cares Foundation, which raises funds for education, health and safety for children throughout the province. For 20 years, he has volunteered with Bethesda Pentecostal Church as a Sunday school teacher, a board member and on numerous committees. He was the first chairman of the Janeway Children's Hospital Foundation and a board member of the St. John's Boys and Girls Club. Through a wide array of commitments, Mr. Harris has shown dedication to fostering bright futures for the children of his province.
