Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

In 1965, Adrienne and James Reese founded the Ontario-based Christian Horizons, a non-profit service and ministry for developmentally challenged adults and children. They provided a summer camp program in Haliburton and offered some parents their first respite from providing 24-hour care. Over the years, the organization has adapted to accommodate requests for long-term residential care. Mr. and Mrs. Reese have contributed thousands of hours serving on the board of directors, participating in conferences and workshops and visiting residents of the facilities. Their hard work has provided immeasurable support to people with developmental disabilities and to their families.
