A mentor with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and a volunteer with Youth Bocce, Helen Hatzis is probably best known for founding Aloha Toronto. The program provides autistic children with therapeutic surfing lessons to help them build their confidence. The Toronto SickKids Foundation and Surfers Healing, among other organizations, have greatly benefited from Aloha Toronto's services.
