    Sybil May Darnell, Don Mills, Ontario Governor General's Caring Canadian Award Sybil May Darnell has worked passionately to create a better world. For over 25 years, she was involved at the local, provincial and national levels of UNICEF, travelling internationally, recruiting volunteers and participating in fundraising and community awareness programs. She was a founding member of Pueblito Canada, a charitable organization that assists child-care projects in Central America, and also founded the Osteoporosis Society of Canada. Mrs. Darnell has opened her house to people from all over the world seeking a temporary refuge. Mrs. Darnell delivered Meals on Wheels in Don Mills for many years and currently cares for people in her apartment complex who are elderly and ill, encouraging them to participate in recreational activities.
