Noël Gohier and Jeannine Petitclerc Gohier, Montréal, Quebec
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Noël and Jeannine Gohier have been active members of their community for many years. While raising their family, they were involved in countless committees and activities, including their parish's scout and guide movement. In 1975, Mr. and Mrs. Gohier founded the Père Marquette community garden. With the surplus from this garden they set up a community kitchen, located since 1994 in the basement of Saint-Ambroise church. The purpose of the kitchen is to provide assistance to the most disadvantaged citizens. The Gohiers also devote several hours each day to the parish meals on wheels serving the seniors of their community.
