Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Larrison Knapp has tirelessly served his community for over 20 years. Refusing to let his blindness impede his work as an artist and a volunteer, he has dedicated himself to improving conditions for others. At the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, he has volunteered as an Advisory Board member, chaired committees and participated in fundraising. Mr. Knapp has been an active member of the United Way of Sault Ste. Marie, serving as a Director for a number of years. He has supported the arts through the establishment of an Endowment Fund for the Art Gallery of Algoma, and has donated his time to his church in the capacity of steward and as presbytery delegate.
