Leslie Farquharson has dedicated a lifetime to serving others in Canada and literally around the world. He began by helping out at his church when still in his teens, and this has remained an abiding interest of his through the years. He has also made significant contributions to the Rotary Club, Scouts Canada, the Good Shepherd Food Bank and other organizations. After 25 years in the dairy industry, he became a volunteer dairy consultant for the next 20 years, travelling to eight developing countries to provide advice on 19 projects. Back in his home town of Alliston, he poured his energy into the Food Bank, maintaining a heavy schedule well into his eighties.
