    Rita Irving, Toronto, Ontario Governor General's Caring Canadian Award For close to 40 years, Rita Irving has worked to help her fellow citizens. She cheerily volunteers with Humber Community Seniors' Services, delivering Meals on Wheels, knitting baby sweaters for fundraising events and selling raffle tickets. She has participated in her church's outreach projects by knitting, buying and collecting donations of warm socks, hats and scarves, for distribution to less fortunate citizens. She delivers home-baked goods to residents of halfway houses at Christmas time and throughout the year. In addition, for some 20 years, Mrs. Irving has been a canvasser with the Canadian Cancer Society's annual campaign and has helped out with its Daffodil Campaign.
