Strongly committed to sports and recreation, Gary Hewitt has organized numerous competitions for the Arctic Winter Games since 1970, and has served as a board member of the ElderActive Recreation Association since 2010. He has also been a member of the Whitehorse Elks Lodge since 1974, serving in such positions as secretary-treasurer and president.
