For more than a decade, John Jewitt has been supporting Indigenous veterans across Canada by coordinating the annual National Indigenous Peoples Day ceremony in June and serving as the Ontario regional director of Aboriginal Veterans Autochtones. He also advises the Royal Canadian Legion and the Department of National Defence on Indigenous protocols and events.
