Herb Shier has been an integral part of the community of Colonsay for eight decades, helping to establish a vibrant community by planning town celebrations, donating and maintaining trees and hosting bingo fundraisers. As the secretary-treasurer of the Community Hall Board and a member of the Colonsay Recreation Board, he ensured residents had access to recreational facilities, including a pool and an ice rink.
