Rod O’Connell has devoted more than 35 years to studying birds and participating in owl surveys in northeastern New Brunswick with Bird Studies Canada. He also gathered together nature enthusiasts and created the Friends of the Nepisiguit Mi’gmaq Trail to clean up a 150-kilometre historic hiking trail in New Brunswick, which was officially re-opened to the public in August 2018.
