Jacques Lévesque is one of our leading specialists in the international relations of the Communist world, Russia, and the republics that emerged from the former Soviet Union. He is a professor and former dean of the faculty of political science and law at UQAM (Université du Québec à Montréal), where he established the department of political science and the Centre d'études des politiques étrangères et de sécurité. He has written authoritative works that have been translated into several languages. In view of his extensive knowledge, he has been appointed to research and teaching positions in prestigious foreign institutions. He is recognized for the judgment and leadership that he brings and has served in particular as vice-president of the Royal Society of Canada.
