For more than 30 years, Dorothy Griffiths has been an advocate for people with dual diagnosis, in which a person has both a mental illness and a co-occurring developmental disability. A professor at Brock University, she has worked to improve the quality of life for persons with intellectual disabilities and mental health needs. Through her research, program development and teachings, she has raised awareness of the issue, and continues to defend the human rights of persons with intellectual disabilities.
