A mechanical engineer widely known for his innovative thinking, David Halliday is a model of Canadian ingenuity. President of Dynamic Structures, he has been responsible for the design and construction of some of the largest and most sensitive observatory telescopes in the world, including the Atacama Cosmology Telescope, in Chile. He has also helped to develop Canada's long-range plan for astronomy and astrophysics through his involvement with the Canadian Coalition for Astronomy. More recently, he has played a key role in designing state-of-the-art roller coasters for the amusement ride industry, the most popular being the new Harry Potter rides at Universal Orlando Resort.
