He is a major force in the preservation of Winnipeg's past. A former Manitoba Governor on the Board of Heritage Canada and a founding member and past President of Heritage Winnipeg, he has helped save numerous historical landmarks. A long-time municipal politician, he also helped to shape and implement legislative changes to preserve his city's historical architecture. In addition, he was a Director of the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce for nearly two decades and has lent his expertise to numerous community arts and health care organizations.
