Colonel Duffy is a classic example of the Canadian citizen-soldier. Rising in his militia regiment, the Hastings and Prince Edward, from private to lieutenant-colonel commanding, he has been its mainstay in war and peace. In Belleville, Ontario, he has served as an alderman expediting post-war housing; he has also promoted Scouting, organized emergency measures and established a recreational trail association.
