He is a distinguished health care administrator whose vision gave birth to the first hospital foundation in Saskatchewan, the first in-hospital hostel unit in Canada and the Kinsmen Children's Centre. He has also made an outstanding volunteer contribution to Saskatoon's recreational and social services, particularly in the organization of the 1989 Canada Summer Games and the establishment of a Ronald McDonald House.
