He is known in western Canada as a founder and supporter of hockey teams at all levels, from junior to professional. He was instrumental in bringing the National Hockey League to western Canada through the creation of the Edmonton Oilers. He helped develop a variety of junior franchises in many smaller western cities. His dedicated efforts will have a lasting effect in arenas all over the region for future generations of hockey players and their fans.
