A distinguished surgeon, academic leader and teacher, he has dedicated the last 35 years to the advancement of neurosurgery in Newfoundland. Through his teachings and as former President of the Canadian Congress of Neurological Sciences, he has contributed to the development of this specialty. In particular, he was a key player in the creation of an advanced course on neurosurgery for Newfoundland nurses, which later gained provincial accreditation. In addition, he is the author of numerous works on pre- and post-operative care.
