A prominent member of the judiciary, Claire L'Heureux-Dubé is an extraordinary woman. She has been, in turn, a lawyer, a judge of the Superior Court of Quebec, the first woman judge of the Court of Appeal of Quebec and a judge of the Supreme Court of Canada. This ardent feminist and visionary distinguished herself through her actions aimed at eliminating social inequality, promoting family law and women's issues, and raising awareness about minority rights. Her dissenting views, particularly in the Supreme Court, are known for having motivated several judicial reforms. Currently Judge in Residence at the Université Laval, she gives her time to a variety of organizations, including the International Academy of Comparative Law.
