A respected scholar and administrator, she led the successful restructuring of the University College of Cape Breton. Under her direction, this institution entered a partnership with all three levels of government to form the Cape Breton County Economic Development Agency, a first of such alliances in Canada. Her published works examine the roles of the non-profit sector in our society. In addition, her views and presence are highly solicited by national advisory bodies and she generously gives of her time to numerous volunteer organizations.
