A prominent leader and advocate for women's rights in the Muslim community in Canada and abroad, she promotes awareness, education and the eradication of violence. Founder of the Canadian Council of Muslim Women, she is a longtime member and Chairperson of the World Interfaith Education Association. Also a teacher, she worked to integrate Islamic education into the public school system in Edmonton, and designed its Interfaith Education program. Founding President of the World Council of Muslim Women, she emphasizes respect between women of all faiths and encourages cooperation on a global basis.
