She champions the history and culture of the Irish in Quebec. She brought the historical significance of Grosse-╬le to the attention of Canada and the world. Due to her efforts, this quarantine station for Irish immigrants escaping the potato famine in the 1840s and the final resting place for thousands of people is now a national historic site. A popular lecturer, she has written several authoritative books and founded a publishing house devoted to making known the impact of Irish immigration on Quebec. In addition, she is a founding member of Irish Heritage Quebec, a family history and genealogical society.
