He has had a remarkable career in academia and the federal public service. He has held a number of successive university administrative positions, including founding rector of the Université du Québec à Montréal. In that position, he was a catalyst in the establishment of the institution and contributed to the development of university education in Quebec. He also distinguished himself as a senior manager in the federal public service, where he contributed to the success of a number of major projects. As a member of various non-profit organizations, he has always devoted himself to serving others.
