Throughout his distinguished career, he has been highly respected as a lawyer, judge and Chief Justice of Alberta and of the Court of Appeal for the Northwest Territories. He contributed to the revision of the Alberta and Nova Scotia Rules of Court in the late 1960s. Later he made important recommendations regarding judicial conduct and appeals to the Supreme Court of Canada. As a Bencher of the Law Society of Alberta, he helped to establish the first lawyer's liability insurance program. Now retired, he continues to provide wise counsel as a mediator, arbitrator and volunteer.
