A devoted volunteer and philanthropist, he has channelled his entrepreneurial spirit and keen business sense into numerous community, regional and national organizations. He is the driving force behind a University of Waterloo research program aimed at enhancing the quality of life of people with Alzheimer Disease. He has also been active for decades with the Homewood Health Centre, a treatment facility for those with mental-health and addiction problems. As well, he has served the University of Guelph for 50 years in various capacities, including Chair of the Board of Governors.
