A trained economist and career academic, he is now a professor with the Faculty of Administration at the University of Ottawa. He is recognized for his interdisciplinary work and his research in the social sciences. For the past ten years he has also been engaged in popularizing the findings of social and economic history research on radio and television. In addition, he has advised various government committees and worked for several learned societies.
