A highly regarded researcher, educator and advocate of second language teaching, she has championed bilingualism for over thirty years. Her internationally recognized innovative research in French immersion has enabled her to defend, with firm conviction, the educational, cultural and cognitive advantages of bilingualism. Honorary Research Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland and former President of Canadian Parents for French, she has also worked with the Department of Education to improve French language teaching programs.
