His career represents a lifelong quest for fairness. He was the first Director of the Ontario Human Rights Commission, an ombudsman for the province of Ontario and a respected advisor on issues surrounding human rights, civil liberties and race relations. He founded the Ontario Black History Society and, through his writings on Black history, has contributed to our awareness of this important aspect of Canada's heritage.
