Emeritus Research Professor of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mathematics at Dalhousie University, he is a world-renowned authority on highway bridge design. He has authored numerous publications, notably on earthquake engineering and advanced structural analysis, and has held leadership positions, including the presidency of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering. Equally recognized as a consultant and lecturer, he has helped to raise the profile of Canadian engineering companies and increase their competitiveness in international markets. In addition, he co-founded a bursary at Brock University to improve opportunities for women in the sciences.
