For more than twenty-five years, he served as a family doctor, devoting himself to the welfare of residents of the mining communities throughout the Burin Peninsula. His extensive work treating miners exposed to hazardous environments and materials made him a recognized expert in the area of occupational health and safety. Now retired, he remains active in the community, and recently played a lead role in the establishment of the region's first fully-equipped modern hospital.
