Professor Emeritus of Crop Science and Plant Ecology at the University of Saskatchewan, he is internationally recognized for his major contributions to our understanding of rust resistance in wheat. He is also credited with the development of several improved varieties of durum wheat. Over the years, his work has had a direct impact on the production and export of Canadian wheat. A Fellow of the Agricultural Institute of Canada, he was also inducted into the Saskatchewan Agricultural Hall of Fame.
