Hailed as one of the best in his field, he is a renowned medical researcher as well as a teacher and administrator. His work with venous thromboembolic disease - blood clots in the veins that often move to other parts of the body - has helped physicians to better diagnose and treat this disease. As well, he played a major role in the landmark research study which linked ASA to the prevention of heart attack and stroke.
