A world authority on peripheral nerve injuries, he has channelled his expertise into surgery, teaching and research. He co-founded a laboratory which garnered an international reputation for innovation in neurosurgery research. An award winner for excellence in teaching, he served as Chairman of Neurosurgery at the University of Toronto, directing one of the world's top training programs. As the President and Chief Executive Officer of Toronto's University Health Network, he led this organization with integrity as it moved through a challenging period of change.
