    John Richard English, O.C. Kitchener and Toronto, Ontario For his contributions as a historian, author and administrator who has expanded our knowledge and understanding of Canada’s rich political heritage. John English has enhanced our knowledge of the people and events that have shaped our history. Executive director of the Bill Graham Centre for Contemporary International History at the University of Toronto, he is an eminent historian renowned for his writing, notably his award-winning biographies of Lester Pearson and Pierre Elliott Trudeau. Committed to public service, he has thoughtfully led institutions and initiatives that promote history, research and dialogue, such as the Centre for International Governance Innovation and the Dictionary of Canadian Biography. This is a promotion within the Order.
