A university administrator, a respected scholar on East Asian studies and a great humanitarian, he has worked toward a better understanding among the world's peoples. His passion for the study of China and international academic exchanges benefited generations of students at the University of Alberta. Esteemed as a Sinologist and as an authority on international relations, he was appointed through the public service to numerous international delegations and committees. Generous with his knowledge and his time, he continues to offer his support to community and world organizations.
