A former senior member of the Armed Forces and a retired senior-level public servant with a strong interest in military affairs, he has been a devoted volunteer for decades. He was a leader in many defence-oriented organizations such as the Conference of Defence Associations and he is committed to increasing public awareness and knowledge of contemporary defence issues. He has also served in various executive capacities with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires and is on the Board of Directors of the Federal District of St. John Ambulance.
