Recognized internationally as an expert on microfossils in Canada, he has contributed to the study of geology for more than 50 years. Following a distinguished career in teaching, administration and research at the University of Saskatchewan, he went on to become Vice-President (Research) and now Professor Emeritus at the University of Western Ontario. His co-authored work, Evolution of the Western Interior Basin, is considered one of the most important contributions to Cretaceous geology in decades. Promoting Canadian excellence in scientific research and international collaboration, he continues to act as a diplomatic representative in the global geological community.
