A geographer of international renown, an expert in toponymy, and a much sought-after lecturer throughout the world, he has also left his mark on the academic world. Co-creator of the Department of Geography at Université Laval, he has also carried out important reforms as dean of the Faculty of Arts, resulting in its modernization and expansion. Furthermore, as executive director, he has played a crucial role in the development of Télé-Université by, among other things, designing a series of distance-learning programs.
