Vern Krishna has made remarkable contributions to the legal profession. A professor at the University of Ottawa, he is one of Canada's leading tax scholars, renowned for making tax law accessible to a general audience. An engaging teacher, he has brought leadership, commitment and diplomacy to his professional and voluntary endeavours. As treasurer of the Law Society of Upper Canada, he was instrumental in negotiating a national mobility agreement that allows lawyers to practice inter-provincially. He also contributed to a reform of Ontario's bar admission process and has been a leading figure in the evaluation of lawyers with foreign credentials who want to practice in Canada.
