A scientist with the National Research Council, he is internationally acclaimed for his contributions to our understanding of the many complex scientific and environmental issues surrounding molecular spectroscopy. His study of the spectrum has helped to demystify the relation between energy production and consumption to ozone depletion and climatic change. He has also advanced our knowledge of the spectra of free radicals and their impact on the ageing process. In addition to his research, he has been active in the Royal Society of Canada, serving two terms as Treasurer.
