He is an educator, researcher and professional engineer whose work in the field of civil engineering has earned him widespread recognition. He pioneered the systems concept and development of engineering technology for managing networks of paved roads. His concept is now used by municipal, provincial, state, and federal government transportation agencies in North America and abroad. The author of ten books and over three hundred technical papers, he has also lectured and consulted in several countries. His innovations have resulted in many management and economic benefits for public transportation agencies in Canada and overseas.
