He is one of the country's leading labour lawyers who has also made significant contributions to academic life and the art world. An expert in industrial relations, he has participated in the preparation of teaching materials used throughout Canada and has been a respected lecturer at Queen's and McGill universities. In addition, his knowledge and appreciation of art have made him a valued advisor and patron of several galleries, in particular the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, where he is a key member of the Acquisition Committee.
