As a teacher, author, broadcast journalist and charter member of the Heritage Trust of Nova Scotia, she has greatly enhanced an awareness and appreciation of our cultural history. Her twenty-year campaign to restore and preserve her first discovery, "The Croscup Painted Parlour", one of the finest examples of interior decorative painting, culminated in its acquisition by the National Gallery of Canada. Largely through her efforts, heritage treasures such as the Halifax Historic Properties have been saved from demolition and conserved for the enjoyment of future generations.
