She has brought her nursing skills to some of the poorest regions of the world. Throughout her long career working for the Red Cross, she has shown herself to be an uncommonly brave, determined and devoted person. In war-torn countries such as Cambodia, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Rwanda, she has carried out perilous missions and experienced first-hand the problems of drought and famine faced by the inhabitants. She knows how to adapt to difficult situations and has a good understanding of the customs and way of life of the people. Her impressive professional and personal talents have enabled her to do extraordinary things in her humanitarian work.
